Hebron, Indiana - August 11, 2016 - The star of Discovery Channel's reality television series Street Outlaws is preparing to make his NHRA debut at The Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals August. 31- September. 5 at Lucas Oils Raceway in Indianapolis.
At the recent appearance at the NHRA Summer Nationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ, Justin "Big Chief" Shearer met with several NHRA stars and spoke to many fans sparking speculation that he may be considering driving within the NHRA ranks. At the event, he delivered a message about the dangers of illegal street racing and encouraged hot rod enthusiasts to race at NHRA tracks, and not illegally on public streets.
"We are happy to see Justin take this next step in his career to encourage all his fans to race legally at NHRA member tracks," said Terry Blount, NHRA vice president of communications and public relations. "We realize Justin has a large following of dedicated fans across the country, and this is a way to emphasize the NHRA's message of everyone racing legally. We want all of Justin's fans to know they are welcome at NHRA events and encouraged to race at NHRA member tracks."
The CrowMod was dropped off at Larry Jeffers Race Cars, who also built the chassis for The Billy Glidden / Precision Turbo and Engine Pro Mod Camaro, to receive the needed upgrades to be able to compete in NHRA Pro Mod Series. The roll cage certification, along with some other added features will be completed over the next couple days to ensure the safety that NHRA requires to compete.
"We are excited to be a small part of Big Chief's program and are thrilled to have him racing in the NHRA Pro Modified Class. Knowing Justin's skill set and massive fan base we are excited to see the amount of additional exposure he brings to the NHRA and specifically the Pro Modified Class." said Harry Hruska, President of Precision Turbo and Engine.
Precision Turbo and Engine is eager to see the accomplishments Big Chief and his twin Precision Turbo powered Crow Mod will achieve throughout Justin's new NHRA career, that can now be added to his ever impressive and growing resume.
The televised run of the NHRA Pro Mod class will be:
Thursday. Sept. 8, 10-10:30 p.m. (FoxSports2)
Sunday. Sept. 11, 4-4:30 p.m. (FoxSports1)
